Approval to purchase goods worth hundred crores taka for setting up labs in educational institutions

The Department of Information and Communication Technology has received approval to purchase goods worth Tk 101.28 crore for labs in 5,000 educational institutions under the project 'Establishment of Sheikh Russel Digital Lab (Phase II)'. It is learned that through the project, 5,000 "Sheikh Russel Digital Labs" will be set up in 5,000 educational institutions across the country and a state-of-the-art "School of Future" will be set up in 300 secondary level educational institutions for 300 parliamentary seats out of the established Sheikh Russel Digital Lab. Interactive smart boards with various frontier technologies, 3D printers, Arduino starter kits, robotics instruments, programmable playing instruments, AR / VR gear and other advanced technology hardware will be installed in 300 secondary level schools. In a Facebook status, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the contribution of information technology in fulfilling the dream of a self-reliant and prosperous Bangladesh is undeniable. In the current context of Digital Bangladesh, the Department of Information and Communication Technology has taken the responsibility to transform the possible challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution into possibilities by utilizing the existing facilities. He further said that in a very short span of time, the purchase of laptops, printers, scanners, routers, web cameras and other IT equipment has been completed for the Sheikh Russel Digital Lab to be set up in 5,000 educational institutions. Each Sheikh Russel Digital Lab will transform the local youth community, including students, into skilled manpower through ICT education and the use of ICT in education through 17 state-of-the-art laptops and other IT materials. Through which the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution, including the eradication of marginal poverty, will be addressed by utilizing the demographic dividend.
